It is difficult to find a piece of hardwood wide enough to make the entire guitar, so it is difficult to find a guitar made of a piece of wood. Most guitars are made of two pieces of wood, and the seams extend down the center of the main body. Maple, ash, mahogany, bass, al, and poplar are commonly used to make the main body of electric guitar. Many guitar bodies are made of cheap wood (for example, soot) glued to wood such as maple. Guitars made in this way are called "flaming tables". Some electric guitars are made of carbon composite materials, aluminum alloys, or plastic materials such as polycarbonate.
